Description

Castello Banfi is a rarity among Italian wine estates, not just because of its size (some 7,100 acres, of which around 2,400 are planted with vines), its composition of single vineyards, or its state-of-the-art winery, but because it was started from scratch less than 20 years ago.

At Castello Banfi – Il Borgo, comfortable and charmingly elegant hospitality awaits guests touring the breathtaking wine country of southern Tuscany. Our guest rooms and suites are built inside the stone houses forming the 18th century hamlet aside the walls and towers of the Castello. Along both sides of the sloping village street, the exteriors of the luxurious accommodations reflect the architectural beauty and heritage of a Tuscan past, while the interiors have been carefully structured to offer the comforts of a sophisticated home. Shaded entries from the quaint terraced street walkways lead to private hideaways handsomely decorated by Federico Forquet, Italy’s eminent designer.

Hotel Facilities
The Castello Banfi offers its guests a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the valley and the mountains that surrounds the property. For those who seek peace and tranquillity and love to contemplate the surrounding nature, perhaps sipping a glass of wine, the pergola located in the garden turns out to be just perfect. In the estate, if you wish, you can also attend cooking classes and wine tasting sessions in order to better assimilate the secrets of the Tuscan cuisine. In addition, wines and regional produce can be enjoyed in the on-site Enoteca-Wine Bar.

Wine Interest & Activities
Castello Banfi is a family-owned vineyard estate and winery in the Brunello region of Tuscany. Together with its sister estates in Piedmont, Vigne Regali and Principessa Gavia, it has become recognized the world over for its dedication to excellence and sparking a renaissance in the art of Italian winemaking.

The vineyards are our soul; the winery is our heart. They combine to create one of nature’s most wholesome foods. Healthy grapes yield the purest wines; sulfites and histamines are reduced, creating more organic and taste appealing wines.

Our state-of-the-art winery was created to handcraft our wines with advanced technology in lieu of chemistry. Dedicated winemaking: rotary, cask and barrel fermenting, cooling tanks and gravity feed work in tandem. Nitrogen bottling reduces sulfites. Thousands of prime oak barriques selected for the tightest grain and seasoned for an exceptional three years are gently toasted for an hour over a low flame to impart mellow softness.

The wines of Castello Banfi represent the fruit of our continual pursuit of excellence in the art of winemaking. These noble wines, distinct in their undeniable expression of this unique terrain, marry tradition with innovation, from the vineyard to the cellar. Critically acclaimed by the top guides in Italy and internationally, Castello Banfi has sparked a worldwide renaissance for the grand wines of Tuscany. Castello Banfi exalts the historic wines of Montalcino – Brunello, Rosso and Moscadello di Montalcino – along with the prestigious denominations of southern Tuscany.
