Developed by international hotelier and entrepreneur Michael Pawlowski, an active member of the Franschhoek community having relocated here from Europe in 2007, La Clé des Montagnes (‘key to the mountains’) is essentially a top of the range self-catering villa experience on a working plum and wine farm. The pinnacle of luxury accommodation, the product features interiors by Sarah Ord, and has been custom designed to meet the requirements of the upper end of the market.
If you wish to stay on site and enjoy the unequivocal ambiance, each villa has a private swimming pool and is fitted with beautiful chandeliers and large fireplaces. You can relax and unwind while you sample the region’s renowned wines and excellent cuisine prepared from the freshest local ingredients without moving from the deep, plush chairs of your private verandah.

Full Day Winelands Gourmet Delights Tour
These full day tours are for guests that really appreciate the better things in life. Be prepared to be spoiled non stop by combination tastings that will blow your mind. Lunch is included.
Full Day Chocolate, Cheese, Olive Oils and Wine Tour
This is one of our most popular tours. This includes all the combination tastings. Two of the estates visited offer mostly red wines. We visit specific estates on this tour and it can only be done on a full day. This tour can only be done Monday to Friday. Group sizes are not larger than 9 guests per vehicle unless we have a large group. Private Tours are also on offer.
Walking and Hiking Trails
Walk through the vineyards and enjoy wine tasting and snacks as you go with Franschhoek Trails, Wine and Valley Walks. There are some wonderful hiking trails and tours in Franschhoek. The Haute Espoire Estate, La Motte Estate and Mount Rochelle Estate all have wonderful trails to enjoy.
Bicycle Riding and Tours
Manic Cycles offer guided bicycle tours and you can hire your own bicycle and take it for a leisurely ride to the local wine estates.

Location
La Clé des Montagnes offers an idyllic setting a short stroll from the historic village of Franschhoek. Franschhoek is a small town in the Western Cape Province and one of the oldest towns of the Republic of South Africa. It is about 75 kilometres from Cape Town.
Franschhoek valley Wine region was settled over 300-years ago by the French Huguenots. Set against the backdrop of the Franschhoek and Drakenstein mountains. From those early farms of La Motte and Cabriere, a village grew. An hour’s drive from Cape Town, the vineyards of Franschhoek beckon with the promise of chenin blanc and chardonnay, and sparkling cap classique. The Franschhoek wine route has 44 wineries, and the restaurants on the estates and in the village have earned the region the label of Food and Wine capital of the Western Cape.
