Wine Interest & Activities
Many Istrians conceive wine a inexplicable unearthly sacred potion, a necessity and passion, the culture of living, as nourishment and liquor, prayer and a curse. Istrians have been historically devoted to the grapevine. The vineyards spread over approx.15.200 acres of land. The western viticulture area (in the vicinity of Poreč, Buje, Pula and Rovinj) is the largest, its vineyards covering approx. 14.430 acres. The central Istria wine-growing hills (around Buzet and Pazin) spread over some 516.44 acres, while in the eastern part (near Labin), there are around 255 acres of vine grapes.

Less than 50 km. from the hotel we find good winemakers like Kozlović, Matošević, Trapan, Benvenuti, Roxanich, Clai, Kabola and more… The hotel can arrange visits to them.

Location
Villa Štefanija is located in the small, peaceful east Istrian village of Puntera, which overlooks the river Raša valley (in Latin, Arsia) at 189 square feet above sea level. A major river of Istria, the river Raša has been famous from the first century when it joined ancient Histrians and Liburns.

Just 5 kilometers from Puntera is the charming medieval village Barban. The sea is 900 meters away, and nearby you can find uncrowded wild beaches such as Blaž, Krnica, and Rakalj, unspoiled by mass tourism.

Villa Štefanija is surrounded by green plowfields, grazing lands, small hillocks, meadows, caves, and woods, from where you can see a remarkable view of the islands of the Kvarner Gulf, a bay in the northern Adriatic located between the Istrian peninsula and the northern Adriatic seacoast. In the countryside of Villa Štefanija you are completely isolated from urban towns.

Even if it seems that Villa Štefanija is removed from the rest of the world, it is actually quite close to the biggest Istrian cities, including Pula, Rovinj, Rabac, and Poreč. In fact, our Villa is just 20-30 kilometers (30 minutes by car) from these towns.

The distance from Villa Štefanija to the closest airports is: Rijeka 60 km, Zagreb 210 km , Trieste 80 km, Ljubljana 100 km, Venice 250 km .
